This photo is on the front of a card that Meg’s parents gave us for our anniversary. I love everything about it. The quote inside by Hans Margolius says, “Two people who belong together, make a world.” It’s hard to reduce a philosophy into a statement on a card, but this does a pretty good job expressing my feelings on marriage. It is what you make it, both good and bad.
I love the affectionate way they stand next to each other. Their eyes are not only knowing, but understanding also. And there’s still a spark. Not naive, not bitter, not worn down. The experiences of life have left them kind and satisfied with their lot.
And ever since we got the card, I’ve been looking for a jacket exactly like his. It’s perfect.

Wonderful tender thoughts about marriage. It is a beautiful photo. How thoughtful of Megan’s parents!
